Your website, looked after
I build and look after websites for small businesses and charities across Merseyside and beyond, with nearly thirty years' experience of keeping important systems running for banks and government. Hosting, your web address, security updates and changes as you need them are all part of the price. Your website stops being something you have to think about, and you're free to spend your time on the work you actually want to be doing.
Nothing technical left on your plate
I look after all the things that are easy to forget about until the day they matter:
- Hosting
- Your web address and the settings behind it
- Security certificates
- Backups
- Software updates
Your web address stays registered in your name, and your content stays yours. Most weeks you won't need to log in at all. Send me the changes and I'll put them live for you.

When something goes wrong, you can call me directly
Websites do break, and it's rarely at a convenient moment. In my career I've kept live systems running, including government services used by a million people a year, and I've cleaned up after a website that was compromised. If something isn't right, you can call or email me and I'll respond. No helpdesk tickets or call centres to get through, and I'll already know how your site is set up. A website that doesn't work loses customers, so your site is checked automatically every five minutes, and you can see the record for yourself in your own dashboard. I aim to put any problems right before you notice them though.

Everyone's site gets better together
Every site I run shares one carefully tested platform, which changes the economics in your favour. When I make it faster, safer or easier to use for one client, everyone gets the same improvement at no extra cost and with nothing to install. That matters most for security: small business websites get attacked constantly, usually by automated scripts looking for an out-of-date plugin. Keeping ahead of that is my job rather than yours. This month, every site gained a contact form that keeps out junk without asking your visitors to solve a puzzle, with messages waiting in your own private inbox. Pages now make better use of a phone’s screen, and every site already has two-step sign-in and a private dashboard of its real visitors, its uptime record and nightly backups.

The things a template builder can't quite do
For example:
- Taking pre-orders with a Thursday cutoff for collection on Saturday
- Filling collection or appointment slots without ever double-booking one
- Selling a limited edition of prints and having the numbering hold up
Wix, Squarespace, Shopify and the rest are all good at a lot of things, but they're built around templates. If the way your business takes money doesn't fit one, that's usually where I can help.
